Agrimony (Agrimonia eupatoria) is widely used in Bulgarian folk medicine - for tuberculosis, as well as for skin tuberculosis, and also for hemorrhoids. The plant can be found under different names, among them common agrimony, church steeples or sticklewort.

Agrimony decoction has an excitatory effect on the mucous epithelium of the digestive system, stimulates the glands and is used to purify the blood, as well as in rheumatism, gout, skin rashes, against induration, sand in the liver and in jaundice.

The herb is also used for inflammation of the stomach and intestines, colic, diarrhea, it acts as an irritant and on the excretory system as a diuretic.

It has a softening effect on the mucous epithelium of the respiratory system, helps with runny nose, angina, cough. The warm decoction is also used externally as a gargle for angina, hoarseness and earache. It is used in foot baths for fatigue.

The action of this herb becomes very effective if it is combined with the herb Meadowsweet (Filipendula ulmaria, Spiraea ulmaria).

Agrimony is used in folk medicine for chest pains, cough, jaundice, etc.

It has a burning, appetite-stimulating, antibacterial effect, regulates the functions of the liver and bile.

It is also prescribed for inflammation of the oral cavity and throat, angina, pharyngitis, bleeding gums, hives, inflammation of the lymph nodes, intestinal disorders, hemoptysis, tumors, early detected leukemia, fibroids, anemia, gout, rheumatism, constipation. As well as white discharge, inflammation of the skin, wounds, acne.

Method of preparation:

Internally intake: dried herb in an amount of 10-15 g (2-3 tbsp) is poured with 500 ml boiling water, leave to soak for 60 minutes. It is strained. Drink 1 coffee cup 15 minutes before meals.

For gargles, it is prepared as follows: boil 100 g of dry herb in 1 liter of water until 350 ml of water remains, strain, add 2-3 tbsp. honey. Gargle with this mixture several times a day.

Agrimony is also used in foot baths when there is swelling, rheumatism, gout. It is also recommended for hemorrhoids. There is even a belief that it is boiled only on the night before Saturday - for women, and on Friday - for men.

The herb is not poisonous, it is well tolerated by the body!
