Nettle contains useful mucilaginous substances, up to 3% catechin tannins, saponins, essential oil, phenols, ascorbic acid and flavonoids. In addition, the herb contains choline, histamine and tarimin, sugars, the enzyme emulsin, gallic acid, potassium choline. Its leaves are rich in carotene (provitamin A), and all parts of the plant - in vitamin C. Nettle flowers contain quartzmethrin, kaempferol 3-glycoside, chlorogenic and caffeic acids, rutisol.

Nettle is used as an expectorant, diuretic and anti-inflammatory agent, for spasms and difficulty urinating, for skin inflammations, itchy eczema, hives, etc.

The strained decoction of the herb soaked on a piece of cotton is used for compresses. The young leaves are useful fresh as a salad. A yellow dye is obtained from the plant.

Folk recipes with nettle:

Recipe 1
2 tablespoons of finely chopped nettle flowers are infused with 450 ml of boiling water and strained after cooling (dose for 1 day).

Recipe 2
2 tablespoons of the herb are poured with 100 ml. boiling water, strain and make compresses.

Bath recipe
Put 150 g of crushed dried nettle in 2 liters of boiling water. Let it soak for 20 minutes, strain and pour the tea into the bath. Recommended for dry and sensitive skin.
