Ayurvedic traditional medicine in India has for centuries used the colors of hibiscus as a cure for many diseases.
Hibiscus tea is ruby-red and has a sour taste. Therefore, it is also known as sour tea and has a taste like cranberry. Hibiscus tea is low in calories and has no caffeine.
The red color of hibiscus is due to the high content of anthocyanins - pigments with a powerful antioxidant effect rich in tea and the plant. It contains a high concentration of bioflavonoids, vitamin C, other vitamins and minerals, fruit acids and amino acids.
