Thyme is also known as common thyme, German thyme or garden tyme.
The herb was already known to the ancient Thracians. In Ancient Greece, Dioscorides prescribed the ticket for snake bites, as a draining agent, etc.
A perennial herb or semi-shrub with creeping or decumbent stems and ascending flower-bearing branches up to 20 cm high. The flowers are pink, purple or white, collected in inflorescences. Calyxes and corolla are bilobed. Blooms in June-September.
There are a large number of species and forms that are difficult to distinguish. About 15 species are distributed in Bulgaria. They are found in grassy and rocky places in forest meadows and pastures, and less often in meadows throughout the country. They are most widely distributed in the foothills and medium-high parts of the mountain. They use the flowering aerial parts.

How to use thyme?
Internal use:
Pour 100 g of dry herb with 2 liters of boiling water, let it soak until it cools, then strain and drink 1 tablespoon in every 2 hours.
Oil - dietary supplement:
Note that we are talking about thyme oil for internal intake here, not an essential oil. The oil is taken 10 drops daily with water or food.
Tincture:
Mix alcohol and thyme in a ratio of 10:2, taking 20 drops in 50 ml water, 3 times a day.
External use:
Compresses are also made with the herb for bruises, sprains, wounds, eczema, inflammation of the facial nerve. For eye pain, a steam bath is made from equal amounts of thyme and yarrow.
For toothache:
Gargling with a decoction of 8-10 sprigs of thyme and roots of black comfrey. It also removes bad breath.
Homemade cream with thyme:
The cream is prepared from 1 teaspoon of thyme, 1 teaspoon of water, 50 grams of unsalted lard (instead of lard, you can use vegetable oil from almonds, black cumin, milk thistle, rosehip, flax, sesame, etc.) and 10 grams cow butter. An infusion is made from the thyme and left to soak for 30 minutes and strain. The lard (vegetable oil) is mixed with the cow butter and the warm infusion of thyme is added. The mixture is kept tightly closed in a porcelain container in a cool place.
Thyme cream is used for eczema, pimples and itching. The affected areas are smeared in the evening after cleansing.
