Oregano essential oil is obtained by steam distillation from dried leaves of the oregano plant (Origanum vulgare).

Oregano essential oil is widely known for its antimicrobial action. It has strong antiviral and antifungal properties and is a natural alternative to antibiotic treatment. In folk medicine it is used to treat colds, flu, respiratory infections, digestive problems and disorders.

Oregano oil is part of the family of essential oils, which have powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. It contains compounds called phenols, terpenes and terpenoids. The healing properties of oregano oil are due to the extremely high content of carvacrol. Carvacrol is a monoterpene phenol that has a wide range of uses, both in food preservation and in the fight against pathogenic fungi, bacteria and viruses.

The antimicrobial action of the oil has been proven and effective in a huge number of human, animal and plant pathogenic microorganisms, including microorganisms that are resistant to drugs and antibiotics.

Due to the high content of phenols in the oil, care must be taken when inhaling or diffusing, only one to two drops are needed. It is extremely useful, but in moderation.

Usage:
