Serrapeptase is a proteolytic enzyme found in the digestive tract of the Japanese silkworm. It is derived from bacteria of the species Serraitia strain E15 and has been studied for more than 40 years. Used as a dietary supplement in Europe and Asia. The same enzyme can be destroyed by stomach acids.
