About AMA

Ama is a term often used in Ayurvedic texts. The literal translation of ama is "undigested". According to Ayurvedic texts, ama occurs when the food we eat is not properly digested as a result of poor eating habits or weak agni (digestive fire). Ayurvedic teaching describes ama as a type of waste product in the body that can affect all possible metabolic processes. Also translated as toxins. Ayurveda places great emphasis on a specific diet according to the type of dosha that each individual has. Following a dosha-based diet helps prevent the formation of ama. Ayurveda recommends several measures to reduce existing ama and maintain balance in the body.
