Grassy perennial plant. One of the most common species in the Papratov section in Bulgaria. There is a short rhizome from which come relatively large leaves 10-60 cm long, skinny, bare, with wide to linear lancet, wide 5-7 cm. The handle is short, the spores are arranged on both sides of the middle vein, And parallel to each other, 8-18 mm long.

The leaves are used without the follicles (Fol Scolopendrii), which are collected in the summer.

Tannins and mucous substances, free amino acids - aspartic, glutamic and others have been identified.
