Spurwort
Rubia tinctorum L.

A perennial herbaceous plant with a long, horizontal and cylindrical rhizome, which is reddish-brown at the outside and red on the inside. The stem is four-armed, with curved spines, inclined, upright or squat, 30-125 cm long.

Leaves and foliage are equally developed, almost without handles, in shape are elliptical, tipped to the tip.

The flowers are small, yellow-green, grouped in a few in half-mascara.

The fruits are in the form of a strawberry, initially red, then black, composed of two globular parts with one seed.

Blooms from July to September.
