Oregano is a perennial herb with a creeping rhizome. The stems are 30-80 cm high, erect. The leaves are opposite with petioles. The flowers are very small, light red or pink-violet. They are gathered in class-like groups that form shields. The calyx is tubular with 5 teeth. The corolla is bilobed. It blooms in July-September.

It grows in bushes, stony places and in sparse forests mainly in the foothills and mountains throughout Bulgaria up to 1600 m above sea level.

Application:

Oregano has antiseptic, expectorant and antispastic action. It has a beneficial effect on bronchitis, tracheitis, bronchial asthma, whooping cough, nervousness, insomnia, headache.

The herb stimulates the secretion of sweat glands, enhances intestinal peristalsis, stimulates appetite, calms the nervous system.

Ingredients:

100% Oregano-stalk (Origanium vulgare).

Method of preparation:

Boil 1 teaspoon of the herb in 500 ml of water for 5 minutes. Strain. The tea is taken warm 3 times a day in 150 ml.

Drinking too much oregano tea can reduce sexual activity in men. The herb is contraindicated in pregnant women.
