Mentha piperita L.

Mint is a genus of perennial herbaceous plants of the family Ustotsvetni. It is distributed mainly in the northern temperate zone.
The stem is branched, about 0.70 m high, quadrangular, the leaves are simple, oblong, sharply toothed. The flowers are reddish-purple, gathered in spike-like inflorescences; the seeds are small. All aboveground parts of the plant contain essential oil with the main component menthol (45-65%).
Application: as an aid in gastrointestinal disorders, liver and bile changes, epilepsy, catarrh, etc.
Method of preparation: Pour 1 tablespoon of the herb with 500 ml of hot water. Leave for 1 hour and strain. Drink in 3 equal portions the day before meals.
