The rose hip is a shrub with straight or curved stems, reaching a length of 3 m and covered with hard prickly, sickle-shaped curves. Flowering stems are sometimes without spines. The flowers are pink or white. The fruits are monoecious nuts, enclosed in a fleshy flower bed, which grows and forms a bright red, ovoid to spherical fruit - rose hips. It blooms in May-July, and the fruits ripen in autumn.
Rosehip fruit is extremely valuable due to its high content of Vitamin C, carotene (provitamin A), vitamins B1, B2, E, PP and K, as well as polyphenols, carotenoids and flavonoids.
