Grows on dry rocky places. In Bulgaria it meets only Vitosha and Lyulin up to 800 m above sea level. More widespread in our country is the mountain pussy, in which the colorful leaflets are not curved out.

The active substances are steroid saponins - mainly protodioscin and protogycillin; The sapogenes of diosgenin, thigogenin, hecogenin and chlorogenin, and the like.
